Meet the team

Meet Emily

I have 10 years’ experience of supporting children and young people 4-25 years, working in both home and school settings supporting children’s education, wellbeing and social, emotional development. Within my roles I have supported children whom have additional needs, such as; Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attachment Difficulties, Communication and Language, Sensory Processing Needs, ADHD and PICA. I have a First Class BA (hons) Early Childhood, building on my knowledge and practice.

My calm, gentle and fair approach fosters positive relational interactions with the young people I support, my ethos of listening to children and  respecting them as young citizens forms trust and promotes decision making, allowing children to impact on their own lives and learning. My understanding of children’s individualised needs and learning styles promotes agile and creative working around children’s behavioural, emotional and personal needs.

I enjoy working in partnership with young people and their families, formulating plans and working on outcomes together, drawing on skill and knowledge to aid positive outcomes, empowering young people and developing resilience and sense of self.

Meet Jo

I have worked in school environments over the past 24 years, adopting an attachment centred approach, recognising the effect of significant relational traumas and losses in children’s lives and the importance for all children to feel safe, secure and special in order to become the best versions of themselves. I have been lucky enough to work with hundreds of children and families, promoting understanding, positivity, self-confidence and resilience.

I qualified as a teacher in 1999 and began my career in Jaywick, Clacton-on-sea, where I worked with children who had experienced significant deprivation, relational and geographic trauma. This led me on my journey and passion of attachment and the impact of trauma.  From there I went on to become an Attachment Lead for the South West and in 2021 achieved the status of a Gold Trauma Informed Practitioner, by gaining Level 1 in Theraplay, group Theraplay and DDP, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, which is a family centred approach. I have used all of these approaches and practices within the school setting, both in my role as class teacher and Deputy Headteacher, setting up attachment support groups for parents and carers. I am excited to be able to extend this within our wider community.
